Term 4 Lunchtime Recitals

We would like to invite your child to participate in Bayview’s Term Four Lunchtime Music Recital Series.

Our lunchtime music recitals are a structured, yet informal, opportunity for students of all ages and stages to perform to a supportive audience including friends, teachers, parents and grandparents. Recitals are held at lunchtime, 12.30pm, in the Music room.

We encourage all Bayview music students from K-6 to participate by preparing an unaccompanied solo performance of 1-2minutes. The piece/s chosen should be something that students have worked on at home and with their music tutor.

Our students are all at different points on their musical journeys - some students will only have been playing for a few months whilst others will have been playing for some years. The benefits of students performing are many and varied: this is an opportunity for ALL students to refine a piece of music, develop skill, cope with performance jitters in a supportive environment and develop confidence!

If you would like for your child to participate, please choose from one of the following dates, click the link and fill in the form. Please note the following exceptions:

Students in Years 2, 3 and 4 should avoid signing up for the performance on Thursday 2 November due to excursions.
Students in Years 3-6 should avoid signing up for the performance on Friday 3 November due to beach sports.
Please sign up by October 30.
Please don’t hesitate to contact Penny Burt with queries: bayviewoffice@stlukes.nsw.edu.au

Jambo Jambo Year Six

Jambo Jambo is an African greeting song. Year Six devised this clever arrangement which layers in percussion and vocals. Listen to our Year Six 'watoto'!

Funge Alafia Year Three

Funge Alafia

Year Three have done a stellar job learning to perform this Ghanaian greeting song. The lyrics are:

Funge alafia,
Asche, asche.
Funge alafia,
Asche, asche.

The translation is 'I greet you with my head' (I respect you), 'I greet you with my heart' (I care for you) and 'I have nothing up my sleeves' (I'm not going to harm you).

Year One and Two Singing

What makes a lot of noise, flails its arms and legs about, pokes out its tongue and salutes whilst being accompanied by Mr Young on the piano?

Why, it's our Year One and Two singers, of course!

Led by Mrs Burt each Thursday, children in Year One and Two have lots of fun finding their singing voices and moving to the music. Our favourite song to date would have to be the Penguin Song. Find a Year One or Two student and I'm sure they will be quick to demonstrate!

Concert Band takes off!

What a fabulous beginning we had last week to Bayview's Concert Band 2017. Students came together under the batons of Mr Young and Mrs Burt to play as an ensemble. We strongly encourage all students at Bayview who have been playing a band instrument for longer than 6 months to join us on Thursday mornings from 7.30am. We have exciting plans for the year ahead and look forward to sharing these with you.
